March Meeting at the Gold Coast

Our March meeting was held at the Gold Coast for the first time since 2014!

Thank you to Hal, John, Peter and the very talented team at Gold Coast Waterways Authority for hosting us all.

It was a very full agenda and we welcomed many interesting visitors including agency representatives from Victoria.

We discussed  issues regarding safety, legislation, the environment and infrastructure. The War on wrecks is progressing well as reported on by Kim Richards MP (Chair of War on wrecks and the member for Redlands).

Navigation lights were highlighted as an intrinsic safety requirement. Details of requirements can be found here: Navi require and an installation guide is here: Navi Install

The 6 knot zone trial on the Gold Coast (South arm of the Coomera River) has almost come to an end. Please have your say and share your opinion of the trial. Any comments or feedback can be sent via email to mail@gcwa.qld.gov.au

The map for the trial area can be found here

Our 50th year is proving to be as busy as all others as we work to maintain and improve the industry for all recreational water users alike.

There is an interesting summary of the history of the QRBC on our website and at the end of the page is a terrific book written by Ivan Sanders a decade ago. here

Your club/association delegates will provide detailed updates through your usual communication/s.
