Major changes underway with QFES review announced today.
Minister for Fire and Emergency Services Mark Ryan announced today that a review and restructure of Queensland Fire and Emergency Services will commence. This will include an investment of $400m over 4 years and a additional 500 full time emergency services staff. The new single service Marine Rescue Queensland will see yearly funding of $27m which will assist in the delivery of new vessels and staff. This service and the SES service will now come under the Queensland Police Service.
Minister Ryan said, “The adoption of a dedicated funding base for the SES, RFS and MRQ will better support the frontline in continuing to save lives and properties when disaster strikes.”
